Balance Between Helping People and Making Money
Summary
- Entrepreneurs often feel the need to monetize everything, but it’s crucial to strike a balance between helping people and focusing on money.
- You can help a million people with the content you make and later monetize through elite services.
- I'm not a big fan of the "Follow Your Passion" mantra. For example, I was passionate about fitness, started a gym, and became successful, but my daily tasks were mainly about payroll, rent, and marketing, not fitness.
- Unless your true passion aligns with your business (like being a personal trainer or hairstylist), you might eventually lose interest.
- To stay fulfilled, find ways to scratch that passion itch without disturbing the business operations.

How To Take Action
Focus on Help, Not Just Money
First, I would suggest creating content that genuinely helps people. This could be blog posts, videos, or social media updates. Focus on providing value and addressing real problems your audience faces. Don’t worry about monetizing immediately. Build trust and a community first.
Stay Connected to Your Passion
If you started a business based on a passion but find daily tasks drifting away from that, find small ways to keep your interest alive. For instance, take an hour each week to engage in the core activity that sparked your interest in the business. If you love fitness but run a gym, carve out time to train personally or attend classes.
Simple Systems for Balance
Next, set up simple systems for your business operations. Automate payroll, rent payments, and marketing where possible. Use free tools for scheduling and social media management. This reduces the time spent on non-passion tasks, allowing more time to focus on growth and creativity.
Offer Elite Services
Consider offering premium services later as your community grows. If you run a gym, that could mean personal training sessions, specialized workshops, or VIP memberships. This way, you can help more people with your free content but monetize through exclusive, elite offerings.
Regular Check-Ins
Lastly, regularly check in with yourself. Ensure you’re still engaged with the parts of your passion that make you happy. Adjust your routines or delegate more if you find yourself losing interest. It’s vital to keep that passion alive without letting it disrupt the business's day-to-day operations.
By implementing these strategies, you can maintain a balance between helping others, staying true to your passion, and running a successful business.
