Choose Your Values Wisely
Summary
- Values should inform behavior. It’s essential that actions align with the core values of the team and company.
- At Acquisition.com, we have three key values: Competitive Greatness, Sincere Candor, and Unimpeachable Character.
- Competitive Greatness: I want team members who demonstrate excellence through their work. Show your best effort in everything you do.
- Sincere Candor: Honesty is crucial, especially when we are advising the companies we work with. If we don’t get the truth, we can’t give the right advice.
- Unimpeachable Character: I ensure that everyone I work with, both inside and outside of work, is someone I am proud to associate with. Good character upholds our brand’s integrity.
- If someone’s personal life does not reflect our values (e.g., engaging in questionable activities), it can negatively impact our brand and team perception.
- When selecting team members or partners, consider if you would be proud to work with them in every aspect of your life.

How To Take Action
I would suggest implementing strategies to ensure your actions align with your core values. This is key for any small business, entrepreneur, or personal growth journey.
Start by identifying and defining your values. For us at Acquisition.com, we have three key values: Competitive Greatness, Sincere Candor, and Unimpeachable Character.
Competitive Greatness: Make an effort to show excellence in every task. It doesn't cost anything but can significantly improve your performance. For example, double-check your work, ask for feedback, and always look for ways to improve.
Sincere Candor: Practice honesty in all your communications. This builds trust. If you’re a business owner, ask your team for genuine feedback and be transparent about your processes. If you're working on personal growth, make sure you’re honest with yourself about your goals and progress.
Unimpeachable Character: Surround yourself with people who share your values and whom you're proud to associate with. If you’re working on a team, ensure that everyone meets this standard. It doesn’t require money or time but can hugely impact your brand and personal life. Avoid activities or associations that could negatively affect your reputation.
Lastly, evaluate current relationships and consider if each aligns with your core values. If someone’s actions don't align, it might be time to re-evaluate that relationship. This helps maintain your integrity and project a positive image.
By focusing on these areas, you can build a strong, value-driven foundation without needing significant resources. Start small but be consistent, and you’ll see high-value results.
