Do It 10,000 Times (You’ll Get Better)

Summary

  • Bruce Lee said, "I don't fear the man who's done 10,000 kicks one time; I fear the man who's done one kick 10,000 times."
  • This means don't keep jumping from one business venture to another without mastery.
  • Think of business ventures as playing a game. Starting over with a new character each time you reach level two won't help you progress.
  • You will keep getting stuck if you don't stick to one venture and push through the challenges.
  • The idea is to exhaust all of your best bad ideas until only good ones remain.
  • Reframe your mindset: accept that you're at level three, and switching characters won't help you avoid the inevitable challenges.
  • Face the challenges head-on instead of delaying them by hopping to something new.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing the idea of mastering one thing before jumping to another. Think of your business or personal growth as a game. If you keep starting over with a new idea every time you face a challenge, you'll never level up. Stick to one goal or venture and push through the tough parts. This way, you refine your skills and increase your chances of success.

A good way of doing this is to focus on small, achievable daily tasks. Break down your big goal into smaller steps and tackle them one at a time. For example, if you're an entrepreneur, focus on refining your product or service rather than starting new projects. This builds a solid foundation and helps you learn more about your market.

Next, exhaust all your best bad ideas. This means trying out different approaches within the same venture until you find what works. Don't be afraid to fail; each attempt is a step toward finding a good idea. Make a list of strategies you haven’t tried and work through them one by one.

Reframe your mindset to see challenges as levels you need to conquer. Understand that switching projects won’t avoid these challenges; it just delays facing them. Accept that you’re at level three in your journey, and no matter how many times you start over, you'll face similar problems. Address them head-on for real progress.

Finally, the most cost-effective strategy is maintaining consistency. Set a routine where you dedicate a set amount of time each day to your venture or personal growth goal. This disciplined approach ensures steady progress without overwhelming you.
