How To Take Action
A good way of doing this is to start by clearly defining your company's mission, values, and vision. Take time to write down what your business stands for and what impact you want to make in the world. This isn't just to attract customers, but also to bring in the right team members who share your goals.
Next, update your job postings and careers page. Instead of just listing pay and hours, talk about your company's mission and values. Highlight how the role contributes to the larger vision and the kind of positive change you're aiming to achieve. This helps attract people who are looking for more than just a paycheck.
Create a small section in your onboarding process to talk about your company's mission and values. Make sure every new hire understands not just their role, but also how they fit into the bigger picture. This doesn't take much time but adds a lot of value by aligning everyone's goals.
Use team meetings to reinforce these values regularly. Share stories and examples of how your company is making a difference. Encourage your team to share their own experiences and ideas about how they can contribute to the mission. This keeps everyone motivated and aligned.
Lastly, celebrate wins that align with your mission and values. Recognize team members who go above and beyond to make an impact. This doesn't require much money or time, but it shows everyone that their efforts are valued and making a difference.
These steps can be implemented quickly and with minimal cost, but they can go a long way in attracting and retaining top talent.
