Easiest Hack to Get Better At Sales faster

Summary

  • If you want to get better at sales and you're the sole owner of your business, record all of your sales calls.
  • The first and cheapest thing you can do is listen to both the calls that went well and the ones that didn't, then compare them to see the differences.
  • A better approach is to give those recordings to a really good closer and ask for specific feedback.
  • Ask them, "If I could improve one or two things on the call, what would you tell me to do?"
  • Implement their advice and send them the next recording for further feedback.
  • You can also trade favors by helping them with something you're better at.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing a few key strategies if you want to get better at sales, especially if you're a small business owner or entrepreneur. Firstly, start recording all your sales calls. It’s low-cost and high-value. Listening to your own calls can provide a lot of insights. Compare the calls that went well to those that didn’t. This comparison will help you identify what works and what doesn’t.

Next, step up your game by getting feedback from a really good closer. Find someone who is excellent at closing sales and ask for specific feedback. Send them your call recordings and ask, "If I could improve one or two things on the call, what would you tell me to do?" This targeted advice can be a game changer.

As a low-cost way to maximize your learning, implement their feedback on your next few calls and then send over the new recordings for more feedback. This iterative process of applying advice and seeking further input can drastically improve your sales skills without any major expense.

Lastly, leverage your strengths. You could trade favors with the person helping you. Offer to assist them in an area where you excel. This creates mutual value and strengthens the relationship, potentially providing ongoing support and growth for both parties.

By following these steps, you'll make consistent, focused improvements to your sales techniques efficiently and affordably.
