How To Take Action
I would suggest implementing strategies to foster both personal and professional growth in your employees. You don't need to spend a lot of money or time to make a big impact.
Encourage and Support Employees
- Show Genuine Care: Spend 5-10 minutes each week talking to your employees about their personal goals and interests. This shows you care about them as individuals, not just workers.
- Offer Encouragement: A simple "Good job" or "I believe in you" can go a long way. Make it a habit to acknowledge their hard work and improvements.
Promote Personal and Professional Growth
- Provide Learning Opportunities: Share free online courses or resources that can help them improve their skills. There's a ton of valuable, no-cost content out there.
- Mentorship: Pair up experienced employees with newer ones. Mentorship fosters relationships and shares knowledge within the team.
Create a Positive Work Environment
- Recognize Achievements: Celebrate small and big wins. This could be as simple as a shout-out in a team meeting or a note of appreciation.
- Flexible Work Hours: If possible, offer some flexibility in their work schedules. This makes them feel trusted and valued, which can motivate them to put in extra effort.
Invest in Their Growth to Benefit Your Business
- Personal Development Plans: Work with each employee to set achievable goals for their personal and professional growth. This aligns their ambitions with your business goals.
By showing genuine care for your employees' growth and providing them with encouragement and support, you will see them invest more effort and time into their work. This strategy is not only low-cost but also highly effective in building a motivated and productive team.

people are constantly doing the minimum required to clock out at 5: and then when they clock out they're like this I'm not doing anything that will happen to you if you use punishment the reason that people work longer hours for me is because I give them encouragement I try to help them grow I don't have to try and get you to grow as a person I could just pay you and you could do your job but I do and therefore you reciprocate with putting more attention towards the thing that we both are trying to grow
