Hiring Good People Won’t Fix Your Business
Summary
- Hiring skilled individuals does not automatically solve business problems; issues arise when businesses neglect customers or fail to properly integrate new employees.
- New hires often operate based on their previous job's rules and expectations, which may not align with your business's requirements.
- To ensure that employees meet business expectations, it's essential to establish and communicate clear, specific expectations right from the start.
- Incorporating these expectations into job descriptions and discussing them with potential hires can set a solid foundation.
- Regular follow-up and positive reinforcement are key to encouraging employees to meet and maintain these expectations.

How To Take Action
I would suggest implementing clear expectations for new employees to help them fit into your business quickly. You can start by including these expectations in the job descriptions. This helps potential hires know what you want from the start. When you talk to applicants, explain your business's rules carefully. This way, they won't be guessing what you need from them.
After someone starts working, don't just forget about them. Check in with them often. This helps you see if they're doing things the way you want. When they do something right, let them know you're happy! Positive words can make a big difference. It makes people want to keep doing good work. It doesn't cost much time or money, but it can really help make your business better.
If there's something not going right, talk about it quickly. Ask them to try a different way that fits your business better. Give them the chance to learn and grow. Always be kind and clear when you talk about expectations. It helps everyone understand each other better.
Remember, it's not just about hiring skilled people. It's about helping them work the way your business needs. This can save you time and trouble later, and your business can run smoothly with a team that knows what's important to you.

hiring good people won't fix your business just like businesses that sell people and forget about the customer thereafter continue to lose customers until they basically banish into nothingness the same goes for employees when most people come in even when you hire someone who's experienced they're still playing the game based off the rules of their last job and so until you set expectations that are different and then reinforce those expectations they're going to just continue doing what they've always done and so the easiest way to do this is to first set the expectation of what you want to verbalize it to add it in the job description to explain it to them and then to follow up with encouraging them when they are meeting expectations
