  • Let them make progress on one thing before adding more tasks.
  • When you give someone too many things to focus on at once, they are less likely to succeed at any of them.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing short, simple instructions to help people follow through. Here's what you can do:

  • Keep It Simple: Write down tasks or instructions so simple that even a child could understand them. This makes it easier for the person to start and not feel overwhelmed.

  • One Thing at a Time: If you or someone else has many tasks to do, focus on one thing at a time. Allow yourself to make progress on this before adding more tasks. This helps in making better headway and reducing stress.

  • Track Progress: Make a small list or chart to track the progress of each task. Seeing progress can boost morale and make people feel accomplished.

  • Avoid Overloading: Do not overload yourself or others with too many tasks at once. Too many things to focus on can make it harder to succeed at any of them, leading to frustration and self-doubt.

  • Positive Environment: Ensure that the work environment is positive. Encouragement and recognition can make a big difference in how motivated someone feels. People who feel good about themselves tend to improve more quickly.

These strategies are easy and cost almost nothing, but they can make a huge impact on personal growth and productivity. Start small, keep it simple, and make sure to celebrate progress.

people do much better following simple short instructions so simple to the point that a child could do it if you have someone who has a lot of things they need to work on give them one at a time allow them to make progress on one thing before you add 16 other things because what happens when you give someone like 17 things to focus on is that the likelihood that they make any of them move is very low and then they start to feel bad about themselves and people who feel bad about themselves actually don't tend to improve as much as people who feel good about themselves
