How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing a strategy that aligns the strengths of your team with the quality of their tasks. Start by giving your best leads to your best salespeople. This allows the top closers to thrive and generate significant revenue. Imagine if your top closers could go from making $200,000 a year to $800,000. This not only boosts their morale but also attracts more talented salespeople to your business, creating a cycle of success.

For training new salespeople, I recommend starting them on the toughest leads. Let them cut their teeth on clients with credit issues or complicated personal situations. This approach minimizes potential losses because you aren’t risking high-value leads on inexperienced staff. Moreover, it forces new salespeople to develop their skills by working harder to close difficult deals. When they eventually move on to qualified leads, they’ll find it much easier and more profitable, having been battle-tested by challenging cases.

This strategy is effective in optimizing resource allocation within your business. You’ll spend less on training while maximizing returns because new salespeople learn the most from tough situations, and the business benefits from the enhanced skillset of the sales team overall.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Allocate Best Leads to Top Closers: Ensure your top closers are given the most promising leads to maximize revenue.
  2. Use Tough Leads for Training: Assign the most challenging leads to new salespeople for skill development.
  3. Optimize Resource Allocation: By minimizing training costs and maximizing revenue from experienced closers, you ensure an efficient use of your business’s resources.

This will help you build a robust, highly-skilled sales team without incurring unnecessary costs.

there's a huge opportunity in every business to give the best closers the best leads because you make more money what happens is is that the best guys will actually make more and more and more money which then creates a survivorship bias for new guys coming in and so if you know that best guy used to make 200,000 a year as the top closer but now can make 800,000 a year the amount of salesp people that you will attct your opportunity will 10x now the other benefit of this is that you train your new guys on the worst leads so you lose the least money as a business but they also Dev their skills cuz they've got to learn how to Big borrowed steal and squeeze blood from the stones because they practiced on somebody who's like missing seven credit cards and they are in bankruptcy their real name isn't Al they're actually in the middle of a divorce it's complicated I'm a a liquid right now whatever and so when you learn how to do that when you get to like qualified prospects you're like oh my God this amazing but at that point the business doesn't bear the cost the salesperson does so that they can develop their skills because just being real you're still paying them to learn and I'd rather pay as little as I can so I can allocate the resources the best way possible in the business
