I Don’t Like When Alex Does This
Summary
- When I'm not feeling well, it's important to communicate what I need, like comfort or a hug, instead of assuming the other person knows.
- Sometimes, people may not realize how their actions come across when I'm unwell. It's helpful to express feelings clearly.
- I've learned that specifying needs during sickness, such as less work talk and more empathy, can prevent misunderstandings.

How To Take Action
I would suggest implementing clear communication when you're not feeling your best. It's easy to assume others know what you need, but everyone has different ways of showing support. Start by expressing exactly what you need from them. Maybe it's a hug or some quiet time; sharing this upfront can help others understand you better.
A good way of doing this is by being honest about your feelings. If someone's actions upset you, let them know calmly and clearly. People might not realize how their words or behavior affect you when you're unwell. By sharing your perspective, you can avoid misunderstandings and build stronger relationships.
Another important strategy is to set boundaries around conversations during vulnerable times, like when you're sick. Politely ask for less serious or work-related talk and more empathy. This way, you get the support you need without unnecessary stress.
These small steps—communicating needs, expressing feelings, and setting boundaries—can make a big difference. They're low-cost and high-value actions that make life smoother and your relationships stronger. Remember, others aren't mind readers, so explaining your needs can help them support you better.
