I Have A Tough Team

Summary

  • I believe that "tough" is the key trait I look for in people joining our business, no matter the position.
  • Every single person on every team in our business needs to be tough.
  • When I interview someone and perceive them as soft, I know they won't be a good fit.
  • It's important to think about the type of person who will thrive in your business.
  • Focus on what you can control and improve, not on past events.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing a few strategies to strengthen your team and drive personal growth.

Identify and Hire "Tough" People:
Focus on finding tough, resilient individuals when you hire. In interviews, pay attention to how candidates handle challenges. Ask them about times they've overcome difficulties. Tough people can handle setbacks without giving up.

Assess Current Team:
Evaluate your current team members. See who stands out as resilient and who might need more development. Support those who are already tough and consider training or mentoring to help others build resilience.

Clear Vision for Team Avatar:
Define the type of person who fits well in your business. Create a clear picture of your ideal team member. This helps in hiring and understanding who to develop.

Focus on Controllable Factors:
Encourage everyone, including yourself, to focus on what you can control. Instead of dwelling on past mistakes, look at what can be improved moving forward. Make this a cultural norm within your business.

Develop Mental Toughness:
Incorporate training sessions or workshops on mental toughness. This can be done through books, online courses, or free resources. Share stories of resilience to inspire your team.

Regular Check-ins:
Have regular meetings to discuss challenges and how they've been handled. Celebrate successes and discuss improvements in dealing with tough situations. This keeps the team aligned and motivated.

By implementing these strategies, you'll not only create a team that is capable and resilient but also foster an environment of continuous personal growth and improvement.
