How To Take Action
I suggest starting with some low-cost, high-value changes. If you're a small business or entrepreneur with limited resources, looking successful can help open doors. Buy a nice suit and get a fancy haircut. This can help you get into rooms and make connections that you might miss otherwise. When people see you as successful, they're more likely to take you seriously, even if you're not rich yet.
Next, if you're strong in your field but people don’t know it, you can benefit. Appear a bit weaker than you are. This way, competitors think you're not a threat, giving you a chance to grab more opportunities. People won’t see you coming, and you can build your business quietly without drawing too much attention.
If you're just starting out and feel weak, try to appear strong. Post strong, confident content on social media. Talk about your vision and strengths. This can help you protect against competitors and might even attract leads or investors who think you have something big going.
Sometimes you have to posture differently depending on your situation. Online opinions can be noisy, but you need to do what makes sense for your business. If your appearance can help you get into important meetings, go for it. Once you've achieved a level of success, then you can choose to lay low and avoid unnecessary attention. This way, you protect what you’ve built without drawing unwanted scrutiny.
By making these small, strategic changes in how you present yourself, you can make big strides without spending much money or time. Just remember to adapt according to your current position and goals.
