It Took Me 6 Months To Quit My Job
Summary
- Quitting my job was the hardest decision I've ever made. I worked as a consultant for Space Sovereign Intelligence for the military and it took me six months to finally leave.
- Many people dream of owning a business but keep putting it off. I realized that it would never get easier if I didn’t take the leap when I had fewer personal responsibilities, like no girlfriend or kids.
- If something feels challenging when you have fewer commitments, it’s likely to become even harder in the future. The best time to pursue your dreams is now.

How To Take Action
I would suggest starting by recognizing if you truly want to own a business or achieve personal growth. Make a clear decision about what you want. Just like I found it tough to quit my job, acknowledging what you desire deep down is the first step.
A good way of doing this is setting aside some time for self-reflection. Ask yourself why you want to pursue this new path and write down your thoughts. This doesn’t take much time or money but brings clarity on what truly matters to you.
Next, assess your current commitments. Like I noticed, fewer personal responsibilities make it easier to take the leap. List out any obligations or responsibilities and see if there’s any way to reduce or manage them better, creating more time and energy for your new venture.
Additionally, plan small, achievable steps towards your goal. If starting a business, work on a basic business plan or conduct market research in your spare moments. For personal growth, set simple goals like reading a few pages of a self-help book daily or practicing a new habit.
Lastly, understand that timing will never be perfect. If it feels challenging now, as it did for me, it won’t necessarily get easier later. So, start now with whatever resources you have, even if it feels like baby steps. Remember, progress is progress, no matter how small.
