It’s So Easy to Beat People Nowadays

Summary

  • It's surprisingly easy to outwork others today because many people lack work ethic and focus.

  • In the first phase of growing a business, the goal should be to improve, not to get rich. Focus on learning rather than earning.

  • If I started a new cleaning business, I wouldn’t worry about scaling or revenue initially. My main concern would be perfecting the customer experience to ensure satisfaction and retention.

  • The priority should be understanding exactly what works for the customer and consistently delivering that. Spend the necessary time—even years—figuring this out.

  • Most people aren't willing to put in the hard work required, like eating glass and delaying gratification. This work is essential for long-term success in entrepreneurship.

  • Building a business is more about having the willpower to persist through failures until you achieve the right formula, rather than relying solely on intelligence.

How To Take Action

I would suggest focusing on improving your work ethic and discipline. Start by setting specific work hours where you avoid distractions like social media. This will help you stay focused and outwork others who easily get distracted.

A good way of doing this is to prioritize learning over earning in the early stages of any venture. If you’re starting a business, the first phase should be all about improvement. Don’t stress about making money right away. Instead, invest time understanding your customer needs and how to provide the best service or product experience.

Another important step is to perfect the customer experience. If you had a cleaning business, focus not on scaling but on making sure every customer is satisfied. Spend time perfecting this service, and those efforts will lead to growth naturally once you have the right formula.

Remember, business success is more about perseverance than intelligence. Be prepared to face many failures. Treat them as learning opportunities until you find what works. You need the willpower to persist and not give up easily.

Lastly, embrace hard work and delay gratification. Real progress comes from being willing to “eat glass,” putting in the tough grind many aren’t willing to, and focusing on long-term success rather than immediate gains. Building this mindset will significantly impact your personal and business growth.
