Make The Work The Reward…

Summary

  • When editors make changes and see positive results, it's a rewarding experience.
  • If I spend hours refining a paragraph down to one sentence, it feels incredibly satisfying.
  • In the beginning, the work is challenging, and you have to put in the reps to learn the skills.
  • Over time, the work itself becomes its own reward, but this takes patience and persistence.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing these strategies to improve your small business, entrepreneurial venture, or personal growth journey.

Start Small and Be Consistent

  1. Do the Reps: Begin by tackling small tasks regularly. Consistency is crucial. For example, if you're a writer, start by editing one paragraph a day. Over time, you'll get better at it, and the process itself will become enjoyable.

  2. Refine and Simplify: Focus on refining your work to its most essential elements. Whether writing, creating content, or streamlining business processes, the goal is to achieve clarity and simplicity. This might take time initially, but it’s incredibly rewarding. For instance, spend time simplifying your marketing message to one sentence that resonates strongly with your audience.

Be Patient and Persistent

  1. Stick with It: Understand that the beginning is the hardest part. You won't see immediate results, and that's okay. Patience and persistence are key. Keep improving your skills, and over time, the work will start to be rewarding on its own.

  2. Break Down Tasks: If a task seems overwhelming, break it down into smaller, manageable parts. This makes it easier to start and provides a sense of accomplishment as you complete each part.

Enjoy the Process

  1. Find Joy in Small Wins: Celebrate small victories, whether it's a successful social media post, a well-edited paragraph, or a productive meeting. These small wins can provide the motivation to keep going.

  2. Monitor and Adjust: Regularly review your work to see what’s effective. Make adjustments based on feedback and results. This continuous improvement cycle will help you achieve better outcomes over time.

By following these steps, you can develop the skills needed for long-term success while finding fulfillment in the work itself. The key is to start small, be consistent, and enjoy the process.

at a certain point the work itself becomes reinforcing when editors edit and then they make a change and then and then the story goes or the video goes the way they want it to it's like boom that was reinforcing and if I like work really hard on a paragraph and I could just shrink it to one sentence I'm like yeah and that might take two hours to just keep beating it down until I get it to like the one most succinct thing and so in the beginning you suck and you do the Reps so that you can learn the skills so that eventually you do the work itself because the work itself is rewarding but that takes time to get to
