Making Money Is Romanticized Nowadays

Summary

  • I've noticed that the business world is often seen in an unrealistic light, with many people thinking it's all glamorous because of what they see on social media.
  • Comparing yourself to these idealized versions of success on social media can make you feel like your own struggles are a sign of failure.
  • In reality, from the hundreds of businesses I look at weekly, very few are actually making money or feeling secure all the time.
  • This misconception can be especially tough on newcomers to the business world, making them feel like they're doing something wrong when it's tough.
  • When things are difficult and you feel like giving up, it's often because you're venturing into new territory, which is a necessary part of achieving success.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting with a reality check on social media. Understand that what you see online is not the full story. Lots of businesses aren't raking in cash or feeling secure every hour. Don't be misled by those glam shots!

Remember, if the journey feels tough, it’s normal, especially when you're new at this! It means you're pushing into new areas, and that's essential for growth and victory. When tough times hit, tell yourself it's part of the adventure—like a badge of courage.

A good way of dealing with hard times is to stop comparing your behind-the-scenes to someone else's highlight reel. Focus on your path and your progress, not anyone else's.

Here's an important step: track your expenses and income. Even on a tight budget, this can be done with free apps or simple spreadsheets. Knowing where your money is going and coming from can help you feel more in control.

Create a support network of other entrepreneurs or friends who understand the grind. Conversations with them can be uplifting and can offer new perspectives.

And maybe most importantly, celebrate small wins. Did you gain a new customer? Improve a process? Celebrate it! It helps keep morale high.

Lastly, keep learning. Read books, watch tutorials, or listen to podcasts that inspire and teach new skills. This can often be free or low cost but brings a lot of value to your personal and business growth.
