How To Take Action
I would suggest implementing these steps to handle problems without taking them too personally:
First, acknowledge that it's normal to encounter problems in business. Remember, when you find an issue, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It's just part of the job.
Next, remind yourself that problems aren’t about you. Don't let them make you want to quit or drastically change plans. Instead, see them as challenges to overcome.
Tell your team it's okay to make mistakes. Share with them that failure isn't the end; it’s a chance to learn and get better. Explain that their previous jobs might have gotten this wrong.
Understand that avoiding risk to dodge failure also means missing out on growth. Encourage taking calculated risks that could lead to big wins.
Embrace mistakes as valuable lessons. They are essential for personal growth and business success.
Here's a simple way to bring these ideas into your daily work life:
- Each morning, write down the potential problems you might face and remind yourself that they’re opportunities, not criticisms of your worth.
- Have regular team meetings to discuss recent challenges and what can be learned from them.
- Celebrate small wins and progress, not just perfection.
- Create a 'lesson learned' board where everyone can post their mistakes and the insights they gained. This will help to foster a culture where growth is a collective effort, not individual.
By doing these things, you'll handle problems with a clear head, leading to a more resilient and innovative business.

I was constantly making problems to be bigger than they were taking them personally and thinking if there's a problem around the area of my responsibility or even just in the company in general then I'm a failure I'm wrong and if you take things personally that's what you want to do you want to stop you want to turn around you want to change I think I'm going to have to keep reemphasizing that point for our team because in their past jobs they've been taught that you can't fail which is why they're so good and also why I think they could stress with this period of time more easily when people are taught that failure gets you fired you then do anything to prevent failure which also usually prevents you from growing cuz you got to make mistakes to go move forward
