My Approach To People Development
Summary
- I have a busy schedule with interviews, meetings, executive board discussions, and team gatherings.
- I focus on doing my own hair and makeup for important days to feel confident and prepared.
- My time is filled with engaging in events and calls with portfolio companies.
- Lately, I’ve been concentrating on people development within our team.

How To Take Action
Implementation Strategies
Personal Growth
1. Self-Care for Confidence
I would suggest implementing a simple routine to make yourself feel confident and prepared for important events. Just like I do my own hair and makeup before big meetings, find that little daily ritual that boosts your confidence.
Business and Entrepreneurship
2. Positive Framing in Feedback
A good way of helping your team grow is to frame feedback positively. Instead of saying what they did wrong, suggest what they need to do to achieve their goals. For example, say, "To meet the project deadline, we could improve our planning process" instead of "We're always late."
3. Focus on People Development
Spend time developing your team members. Guide them by providing clear objectives and actionable steps. This helps them see the path to success rather than feeling criticized. For instance, have regular check-ins to discuss their progress and challenges, and then offer practical advice on how to overcome those hurdles.
4. Time Management
With a busy schedule, managing your time effectively is crucial. Prioritize your tasks by scheduling your most important activities first, like key meetings or client calls. Use tools like calendars or apps to stay organized and ensure you’re dedicating time to people development.
5. Low-Cost Improvements
Focus on low-cost, high-value improvements first. Simple changes, like refining your feedback approach or dedicating just a bit more time to team development, can make a significant impact without requiring major investments.
By implementing these strategies, you'll start seeing positive changes in both personal growth and business success. These are small shifts that compound over time, leading to bigger results.
