My Executives Fill Out a End of Week Report

Summary

  • I make sure everyone, even Executives, turn in an end-of-week report to me each week.
  • I review these reports because if I ask for something, I need to show that it matters by looking at it.
  • People need to know their work is having an impact and is useful.
  • In the beginning, they might need reinforcement from me to fill out the report.
  • Eventually, they will see the benefits of doing it themselves, and the learning will be the reinforcement, not me.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing weekly reports for everyone in your business, including yourself. A good way of doing this is by having everyone submit a brief summary of their key tasks and achievements by the end of the week. It’s a simple task that doesn’t take much time but has high value. It ensures that everyone’s efforts are recognized and keeps everyone on the same page.

When you ask for these reports, be sure to review them. This shows that their work is important and valued. If people feel their efforts matter and are seen, they are more likely to stay motivated and productive.

In the beginning, you might need to remind and encourage everyone to submit their reports. Reinforce the importance of these reports by sharing how they help the business grow, improve processes, and make better decisions.

Eventually, people will recognize the benefits themselves, and the habit will become self-sustaining. They will see how reflecting on their week helps them understand their work better and identify areas for improvement. This learning becomes its own reinforcement, reducing the need for you to constantly remind them.

Start small and keep it simple. You’ll find that this low-cost, high-value practice will make a big difference in your team’s alignment and productivity over time.
