Outbound vs. Inbound Leads

Summary

  • Outbound is when the first contact with a prospect is in a private setting.
  • Inbound is when the first contact with a prospect is in a public setting.
  • If someone hits a lead page and opts in, they are inbound because they first saw an ad in a public setting.
  • After they opt in and become a prospect, you talk to them one-on-one, which is still considered inbound.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing a few easy and low-cost strategies right away to make the most out of what we discussed.

First, focus on understanding the difference between inbound and outbound leads. It’s simple but crucial. Inbound is when someone first sees your content in a public space (like an ad) and then engages with you. Outbound is when you reach out to someone privately from the get-go.

To start, create engaging ads or social media posts. This will help you generate more inbound leads. Make sure your content is clear and interesting so people want to click on it.

Next, once someone opts in and becomes a prospect, have a clear plan for how you will talk to them one-on-one. This part still counts as inbound because they first saw your ad publicly. Use a simple CRM tool to keep track of these leads and always follow up with a helpful message.

Try to automate as much as possible. Use email automation to send a welcome message or information right when someone opts in. This saves time and keeps things smooth for you and your leads.

Finally, keep practicing and adjusting your strategies based on what works best. Track which ads bring in the most leads and tweak your messages based on the responses you get.

Focus on these easy, low-cost tasks first to see immediate improvements. It doesn't take a lot of money, just some time and a clear plan.
