Right After I Graduated College…

Summary

  • I pursued a degree in exercise science and later attended a job fair to seek a high-paying job that helps people.
  • I was advised to consider Physical Therapy as a lucrative career option after my degree.
  • A therapist with four years of experience shared that she worked 45 hours per week and earned $85,000 a year, which didn't meet my expectations.
  • I aspire to earn at least $100,000 right away and realized traditional jobs wouldn't offer that immediately.
  • Long-term career paths showed promising income but required additional time, education, and initial job juggling.
  • My father's influence and my family's entrepreneurial background led me to consider starting my own business.
  • I believed that entrepreneurship might be more challenging upfront but had the potential for greater financial rewards in the long term.

How To Take Action

To make the most money and help people, I would suggest considering the entrepreneurial path like I did. Here's a plan to follow:

  1. Evaluate your current skills and see what kind of business you could start that aligns with them. Leverage what you know – for me, it was exercise science.

  2. Do some research. Talk to people who are doing what you think you want to do. Ask them about their income and work hours. This will help set realistic expectations.

  3. Think about the long term. Jobs might offer a stable income but growing your own business can potentially bring in more money, even though it's harder at first. Weigh the benefits of immediate income against potential future earnings.

  1. Consider your family history. If you have entrepreneurs in your family, use that as inspiration. Learn from their successes (and failures) to help guide your decision.

  2. Start small to keep costs low. Maybe offer your services on a freelance basis or start an online business that doesn't need much upfront investment.

  3. Accept that the road won't be easy. I realized that to make $100,000 right away wasn't typical in a traditional job. Be prepared to work hard and learn a lot in the beginning.

Remember, the goal is to find something that matches your skills, meets your income goals, and has the potential for growth. Look at your options and trust your gut – if entrepreneurship feels right, it just might be the best path for you.
