RIP Speck πͺ¦π
Summary
- As a child, I loved having pets and once had a pet named Speck, which I was quite attached to.
- An incident occurred where Speck got out of the cage without my knowledge, and I accidentally stepped on him, which caused his death.
- This event was deeply traumatizing for me as a child, and I felt a huge amount of guilt, thinking I was a "murderer."
- Dealing with this incident involved collectively having a burial, not just for Speck but also for the shoe he was stuck on, helping with the process of saying goodbye.
- This taught me about the importance of taking responsibility, managing emotions in tough situations, and the healing process involved in saying goodbye.

How To Take Action
I would suggest starting by embracing responsibility in both your personal and professional life. When something goes wrong, take a deep breath, acknowledge your role, and learn from it. This doesn't mean blaming yourself too harshly but recognizing your part and how to improve next time.
A good way to manage emotions during tough times is to find a healthy way to express them. This could be through journaling, talking it out with a friend, or even a short walk to clear your head. Remember, it's okay to feel sadness or guilt, but focus on moving forward constructively.
For small business owners, consider holding a small team meeting to discuss hardships and find solutions together. Sharing experiences and feelings can foster a supportive work environment and improve problem-solving. You might even create a space where team members can write down and place their feelings or frustrations in a 'worry box,' symbolically letting go of them.
Don't underestimate the healing power of saying goodbye to what no longer serves you. This may involve letting go of outdated strategies or practices in business, or even things in your personal life that weigh you down. Create a simple ceremony for yourselfβwrite down what you're saying goodbye to and imagine burying it, just like I did with Speck.
