Sleeping on the Gym Floor Wasn’t Fun

Summary

  • I had to sleep on a gym floor for nine months; it was a tough period, not the romanticized Rocky montage people imagine.
  • It was uncomfortable, cold, and dark during those times, and the loud noises from the parking garage above made it difficult to sleep well.
  • Despite these hardships, I persevered because doing whatever it takes is a common trait among successful people.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting with the mindset that successful people do whatever it takes to succeed. That means being ready to face hard times. If I had to start over or wanted to push through a tough challenge, here's what I'd do:

First, prepare yourself mentally. Understand that it's not going to be like a movie montage; it's going to be hard, like when I slept on that gym floor. So, you need to toughen up and get ready for the real struggle.

Second, find ways to keep going even when it's uncomfortable. It was cold and dark for me, and definitely not a good sleep, but I didn't give up. You need to focus on your goal so strongly that small day-to-day problems don't knock you off course.

Third, connect with your why. It's going to be rough, and sometimes you might think about quitting. Remember why you're doing this. Your 'why' is your anchor, and it will keep you strong when times get tough.

And finally, take small, actionable steps every day towards your goal. Maybe it's making one extra phone call, reaching out to a potential customer, or learning something new that can help your business grow. These little actions might not cost much money or time, but they add up and move you forward.

Remember, success isn't easy or comfortable, but if you're willing to do whatever it takes and keep pushing day after day, that's how you'll make it. Stay persistent, adapt to the hardships, and keep moving towards your goals.
