in every business you've got three lines you've got value you've got price and you've got cost and so you want all three of these lines to be spread as much apart as you can you want something that cost you a tiny amount that you can charge a ton of money for but they get even more value on top of that and the difference between your price and your value is called your customer Surplus it's how much more they get for what they pay the difference in your cost and your price is your profit and so by peeling apart the things that are recurring in nature and the things that are one time in nature allows you to align your cost your value and your price appropriately for each feature or product
