The Secret to Sales

Summary

  • When I started my entrepreneurial journey, I struggled with sales until a mentor revealed that the secret is to make an offer so attractive that people feel foolish for declining.
  • This advice transformed my approach and ultimately inspired the subtitle of my book, "$100 Million Offers."
  • It's common for entrepreneurs to focus on improving persuasion skills, but the real key is in creating offers that align with what customers truly desire.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting by thinking hard about what customers in your business really want. Ask yourself, "What can I offer that would make someone super excited?" This means not just selling something, but finding out what's going to make your offer irresistible.

One good way of doing this is to talk to your customers. Find out what problems they have that you can solve. Listen to what makes them happy and what gets them excited. Then, use what they tell you to build your offer. This doesn't cost a lot of money – just a bit of time to chat or send out a survey.

After you know what they want, try to add more value to your offer without adding much cost. This could mean bundling products or services together, giving extra support, or anything that makes your deal better. Remember the secret: your offer should be so good that they'd feel foolish saying no.

Now, don't forget to test your offer. Sometimes what we think is a great deal isn't what customers want. So, give your offer to a small group of customers and see how they react. If they love it, great! You're on the right track. If not, ask why and tweak it.

Keep refining your offer until finding that sweet spot where customers think, “Wow, I need this!” The goal here isn’t to be the best salesperson, but to have the best offer. If you nail that, selling becomes a whole lot easier.
