Watch This if You Think Its Too Late

Summary

  • I used to believe I couldn't be successful because I thought I was too far down the wrong path. These are what I call irrational beliefs, and they're not helpful.

  • Irrational beliefs are thoughts that are unrealistic, rigid, and illogical. They have no evidence to support them in the real world.

  • During my journey to change my life, I had many irrational beliefs. For example, I didn't think I could lose weight despite trying many times, and I didn't believe I could go out without drinking.

  • Recognizing these irrational beliefs is important because they don't improve our lives; they just make us feel worse about ourselves.

  • It's crucial to challenge these irrational beliefs and look for flexibility and evidence in our thoughts to create a more positive self-view.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting by identifying any irrational beliefs you might have. These are thoughts that are unrealistic and don't have evidence to back them up. For example, if you think you can't succeed in business because you're too late to start, that's an irrational belief.

A good way of doing this is by writing down thoughts that hold you back. Then, ask yourself if there's evidence to support these thoughts. If not, challenge them. For instance, look at stories of late bloomers or successful people who started later in life.

To change your mindset, make a habit of questioning these beliefs whenever they pop up. Replace rigid thoughts with flexible ones. Instead of thinking "I can't," try "I haven't yet" or "How might I?"

Another helpful tip is to seek real-world evidence that contradicts these beliefs. If you believe you can't network without drinking, try attending an event sober and note how it goes. One success can start changing your perspective.

Lastly, surround yourself with supportive people who reinforce positive beliefs. Sometimes, hearing encouragement or different perspectives can help dismantle those irrational thoughts.

By regularly challenging and replacing unhelpful thoughts, you'll create a positive mental environment that supports growth in your personal and professional life.
