What Great Company Culture Looks Like

Summary

  • I'm truly thankful that the people who work with us are happy to be here, and it's really important to me.
  • I remember earlier in my career, walking into a room and sensing some people didn't want to be there, which felt awful.
  • Having faced situations where people would roll their eyes during my presentations was a tough experience for me.
  • I've gained more skills over time, which helps me effectively communicate our goals and the kind of culture we aim to create.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting with creating a happy workplace. Remember how terrible it feels to walk into a room where people don't want to be. Focus on making sure your team or even just you are excited about what you're doing. This doesn't cost much but can make a big difference!

Next, if you've had tough times like when people rolled their eyes at you, use that to get better. Learn new skills to communicate your goals clearer. It's a small step, but it's valuable. It helps everyone understand the culture you're trying to build.

Finally, always say thank you to the people you work with. Show them you appreciate their hard work. This makes them happy to be there, and happy people do better work. It's easy to do and means a lot.

Here's what you can start doing right away:

  • Check in with your team or with yourself. Ask if everyone's happy and what could make things better.
  • Practice your speaking or presentation skills. This way, you can share your ideas in a way that gets everyone excited.
  • Say thank you often. Even a simple thank-you note can make a big difference.

Remember, a good team that wants to work together can help you reach your goals and build the culture you dream of.
