When Somebody Gives up on Their Dreams…

Summary

  • I moved from Michigan to California to pursue a fitness career and to compete where the competition was toughest.
  • Many of my friends were not supportive and made comments like, "Oh, are you too good for us now?"
  • I realized I needed to leave and surround myself with people who understood my vision and had big dreams of their own.
  • Those friends who spoke ill of my dreams did so because they had given up on their own dreams long ago.
  • When people give up on their dreams, being around someone who is still pursuing theirs makes them feel insecure.
  • You might need to distance yourself from people who gave up on their dreams because they remind you of who they could have been but chose not to become.

How To Take Action

I suggest implementing some strategies that don't cost a lot but can make a big impact on your personal growth or business.

First, look at your surroundings. You need to be around people who support your dreams. If you have friends or family who make you feel bad about your goals, it’s time to distance yourself. Surround yourself with people who have ambitions and understand your vision. This doesn’t have to cost any money—just be more selective about who you spend your time with.

Second, join online communities or social media groups where people share your interests and goals. These platforms are often free and can provide a lot of encouragement and new ideas. Engage with people who inspire you and have already achieved what you are aiming for.

Next, set small, measurable goals for yourself. Don’t try to change everything overnight. Break your big dreams into smaller steps that you can manage. This keeps you motivated and helps you see progress quickly. Use free tools like Google Calendar or Trello to track your goals.

Lastly, work on your mindset. Start reading books, listening to podcasts, or watching videos that motivate you. These resources are often free or low-cost and can make a huge difference in how you see your challenges and opportunities.

By making these changes, you can create an environment that helps you grow and stay focused on your dreams.
