Why Do People Struggle With Coaching?
Summary
- I've found that many people struggle with coaching because they don't offer enough value to their coaches.
- To recruit gym owners as coaches, I made sure to provide them with attractive compensation.
- Pay your coaches well, especially if they are skilled and have their own businesses, like gym owners.
- Offer coaches significant room for growth and financial upside to keep them motivated and committed.
- Provide opportunities for coaches to have close access to leadership, like Alex and me, which can be a major draw.
- Hold regular educational events, such as masterminds, to keep your coaches engaged and informed about industry trends and company direction.
- The combination of good pay, status, mentorship, and continuous learning can create a strong, positive work environment for coaches.

How To Take Action
I would suggest starting by making sure you're offering enough value to your coaches. It's important that they feel well-compensated for their hard work. If they have skills and their own businesses, like gym owners, you should pay them really well.
Also, give your coaches chances to grow and make more money as they help your business succeed. This can make them really excited and want to stick around.
To keep your coaches interested and feeling special, let them get to know the leaders of the company. You can do this by inviting them to events or meetings where they can talk with you and other top people.
Hold events like masterminds every few months where coaches can learn new things. These events will teach about what's happening in your industry and where your company is headed. This helps coaches feel like insiders who are really important to your business, which is a big deal for them.
Here's how you could break that down into steps:
- Review how much you pay your coaches. Make sure it's fair and shows you value their skills.
- Create clear ways for them to grow with your company. Maybe they could earn more, or you could help them get better at their jobs.
- Plan regular meetings where coaches can talk to you and other leaders. If you can't meet in person, video calls can work too!
- Organize educational events, like masterminds, to keep everyone informed and excited about where your business is going.
Doing these things can make your coaches feel really valued. They'll know they're getting good pay, chances to grow, and they'll always be learning new stuff. Plus, they'll feel like they're a big part of your business, which is awesome for them and for you!
