Why I Moved to Vegas

Summary

  • I chose to live in Vegas partly because there are seven states without income tax, and Texas, where we used to live, was too humid for us.
  • We ruled out Florida and other East Coast states because most of what we do is on the West Coast, and Washington rains all the time.
  • Initially, I thought Vegas was just about partying and strip clubs, but after visiting a few times, I saw the potential for a more balanced lifestyle.
  • Vegas offers constant entertainment, great dining options, and numerous business events, making it a convenient place to live.
  • There's always something happening in Vegas, and it's easy to entertain guests or meet business contacts since people frequently fly into the city.

How To Take Action

I would suggest implementing strategies to optimize your business and personal lifestyle. Here are some actionable points:

Business Environment

  • Leverage Local Events: In any place you live or frequently visit, take advantage of networking opportunities. Attend business events, seminars, or trade shows to meet prospective clients or partners. This can be incredibly low-cost if you focus on local or regional events.
  • Utilize the Hospitality Industry: If you live in or near a city known for its entertainment and dining, like Vegas, consider this a strategic advantage. Schedule business meetings at popular, casual eateries to create a relaxed and engaging environment.
  • Capitalize on Frequent Visitors: Regularly host and entertain out-of-town business contacts, since people often travel to major cities for vacations or work. Ensure you have a few go-to places for different tastes.

Personal Growth and Lifestyle

  • Choose Your Location Wisely: When deciding where to live, consider factors like climate and tax benefits. Las Vegas worked for us because of its dry climate and lack of state income tax. Prioritize what makes you comfortable and stress-free.
  • Balanced Lifestyle: Look beyond stereotypes. Explore different facets of your city. For instance, while Vegas is known for its nightlife, it also offers incredible dining and cultural events that can enrich your personal life.
  • Entertainment Options: Regularly engaging in local entertainment can help maintain a well-rounded lifestyle. It’s important to balance work with leisure, which in turn can boost productivity and creativity.

Practical Tips:

  • Efficient Meeting Spots: Identify at least 3 versatile locations in your city where you can conduct business meetings, ensuring they are easily accessible and reflect a professional yet laid-back vibe.
  • Local Investigations: Spend a few weekends thoroughly exploring your city. Try out various local attractions that suit both business and entertainment needs.
  • Networking Consistently: Make it a point to attend at least one local business event each month to continuously expand your network without significant expense.

By integrating these strategies, you can enhance both your business operations and personal well-being in a cost-effective and meaningful manner.
