Your Problem Don’t Get Smaller

Summary

  • Reflecting on problems from 10 years ago often makes them seem small compared to current challenges.
  • Imagining my future self, I anticipate that I'll look back at today's problems and find them less significant as well.
  • Growth inherently brings larger and more complex problems to solve.
  • Rather than wishing for a life without problems, it's more productive to focus on increasing my capacity to handle them.
  • My goal is to develop a higher tolerance for problems so that I can face larger ones and continue to grow and succeed.

How To Take Action

I would suggest starting with a little exercise that won't cost you a dime but could change your whole perspective. Think back to the challenges you faced 10 years ago. Chances are, they seem pretty small now, right? Now, apply that thinking to your problems today. Imagine looking back at them 10 years from now. You'll likely smile at how much you've grown since then.

A good way of dealing with your current struggles is not by wishing them away but by building up your problem-solving muscles. Just like lifting weights, start small. Work on solving little issues without getting stressed. As you get better, take on bigger tasks. It's all about increasing your capacity to deal with challenges.

Always remember that growth comes with more complex problems. It's like a video game—every new level has tougher obstacles. But you got this! Focus on getting stronger, not on getting an easy ride. This way, you'll be ready for whatever comes your way.

Here's what you can do every day:

  1. Reflect: Spend 5 minutes thinking about a problem from the past and how you overcame it.
  2. Anticipate: Consider a current problem and brainstorm ways your future self might solve it.
  3. Practice: Pick a small problem you're facing today and tackle it head-on with a solution.
  4. Grow: As problems get solved, aim for slightly tougher challenges.
  5. Patience: Give yourself the grace to build up tolerance gradually. Big changes don't happen overnight.

By following these steps, you'll develop the resilience needed to face bigger problems and ultimately achieve bigger wins. Keep pushing, and you'll be amazed at what you can handle.
